AU/RA G6N turntable

Fantastic (!) turntable made by czech company AU/RA in Prague.
Really unique tangential tonearm design. Although the material seems cheapo
(and maybe is), it sounds very good. Originally equipped with a Linn K5, which suits
the player very well, it comes near to my unmodified Rega Planar 3.
Equipped with a more solid chassis and a better motor, it could be a killer.
The guy who founded AU/RA was a former NAD developer. Coincidence? |
The small silver rod beneath the chassis is the on/off switch. |

What the scale is good for? I've got no idea! |

Visit the
AU/RA
site to see all the other fine components this company is producing. It's in czech,
unfortunately, but the pictures speak for themselves.
Very nice people there! A few reviews will follow... see below. btw: Clearaudio modified this arm a little bit (better cable mainly), called it CAL 3 S, fitted a Clearaudio Alpha System and sold it with an acryl chassis as Clearaudio Evolution turntable in '97. (They still used that silly scale) It seems pictures of the 'classical' Evolution turntable are hard to find... Clearaudio likes to behave like they never used the CAL3S, although it's quite obvious that the actual 'Tangent' arm is nothing more than a redesign of the AU/RA arm. Hey, Peter S.! Invent something yourself ;-) So see some pics of the 'Evolution' here. Read what the german hifi-magazine "stereoplay" wrote in it's issue 3/1991 about the AU/RA. If you need higher resolution pics for some reason, mail me. |
