Everybody knows this fantastic high-end budget player. I bought mine brandnew about 15 years ago. And I didn't regret it for one second! Maybe this explains my affinity to simple, stripped down turntables (see my AU/RA page).

Yep, that's a Planar 3. Nothing more, nothing less.

See the manufacturer's homepage. The Planar 3 is called P3 now, equipped with a more advanced chassis and a new motor (but still with the fabulous RB300 arm), which should be very good. Available as upgrade for Planar 3 owners. I'll buy one as soon as I got the money and tell you if it's worth it... - Ah, I decided it can't be worth it. It's about more than 150 Euros only for a motor and some glue-strips... I'm sure this can be done less expensive. I'll find out! Here's a newer picture without lid on my selfmade shelves. On the right you can see the edge of an Optonica I tested for a few days - uncomparable!
